Osman Adiguzel

Dr Adiguzel graduated from Department of Physics, Ankara University, Turkey in 1974 and received PhD- degree from Dicle University, Diyarbakir-Turkey. He has studied at Surrey University, Guildford, UK, as a post doctoral research scientist in 1986-1987, and studied on shape memory alloys. He worked as research assistant, 1975-80, at Dicle University and shifted to Firat University, Elazig, Turkey in 1980. He became professor in 1996, and he has already been working as professor. He published over 60 papers in international and national journals; He joined over 100 conferences and symposia in international and national level as participant, invited speaker or keynote speaker with contributions of oral or poster. He served the program chair or conference chair/co-chair in some of these activities. In particular, he joined in last six years (2014 - 2019) over 60 conferences as Keynote Speaker and Conference Co-Chair organized by different companies.  He supervised 5 PhD- theses and 3 M.Sc- theses.

Dr. Adiguzel served his directorate of Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences, Firat University, in 1999-2004. He received a certificate awarded to him and his experimental group in recognition of significant contribution of 2 patterns to the Powder Diffraction File – Release 2000. The ICDD (International Centre for Diffraction Data) also appreciates cooperation of his group and interest in Powder Diffraction File.

Sotirios Baskoutas

Sotirios joined the Materials Science Department of the University of Patras in 2001, where he is currently Professor (Full). Dr. Baskoutas has visited and worked in several Universities and Research Institutes outside Greece, such as the Department of Physics, Universita di Roma La Sapienza (Italy), Department of Physics Fundamental y Experimental, University of Laguna, Tenerife (Spain), Free University of Brussels (Belgium), Research Institute of Solid State Physics and Optics, Budapest (Hungary), Institute for Microstructural Sciences, National Research Council of Canada, Ottawa (Canada), Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics, Garching, Munich (Germany), INT Institute for Nanotechnology, Karlsruhe (Germany), Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research, Stuttgart (Germany), Department of Chemistry, University of Hamburg (Germany) and Russian-Armenian University, Yerevan (Armenia). His research interests are focused mainly in theoretical but also experimental studies in semiconductor nanostructures, with emphasis to their electronic and optical properties. Dr. Baskoutas has authored over 150 research articles in peer reviewed journals in the field of condensed matter physics and materials science with more than 4500 citations. He serves as an editorial board member in several scientific journals and has been a member of 40 International and Greek research projects (in 10 of them as project leader).

 

Alexander Seifalian

Alexander Seifalian

Professor , NanoRegMed Ltd, UK

Alexander Seifalian, Professor of Nanotechnology and Regenerative Medicine worked at the Royal Free Hospital and University College London for over 26 years, during this time he spent a year at Harvard Medical School looking at caused of cardiovascular diseases and a year at Johns Hopkins Medical School looking at the treatment of liver. He published more than 647 peer-reviewed research papers and registered 14 UK and International patents. On editorial boards of 41 journals. He is currently CEO of NanoRegMed Ltd, working on the commercialisation of his research.  During his career, Prof Seifalian has led and managed many large projects with successful outcomes in terms of commercialisation and translation to patients. In 2007 he was awarded the top prize in the field for the development of nanomaterials and technologies for cardiovascular implants by Medical Future Innovation, and in 2009 he received a Business Innovation Award from UK Trade & Investment (UKTI). He was the European Life Science Awards’ Winner of Most Innovative New Product 2012 for the “synthetic trachea”. Prof Seifalian won the Nanosmat Prize in 2013 and in 2016 he received the Distinguish Research Award in recognition of his outstanding work in regenerative medicine from Heals Healthy Life Extension Society. His achievements include the development of the world first synthetic trachea, lacrimal drainage conduit, and vascular bypass graft using nanocomposite materials, bioactive molecules and stem cell technology. He has over 15,000 media report from his achievement; include BBC, ITV, WSJ, CNN, and many more. Currently, he is working on the development and commercialisation of human organs using graphene-based nanocomposite materials and stem cells technology. He has commercialised a novel functionalised graphene oxide for medical and other industrial applications. He also commercialised new biodegradable nanocomposite materials for medical and other industrial applications. He is British citizen and completed his school in UK (concord college) and his scientific training at London University

Janusz Cwiek

D.Sc. Eng. Janusz  Cwiek  graduated from Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Technical University of Gdansk in 1988. Since 2009 he has been working  at Silesian University of Technology, Institute of Engineering Materials and Biomaterials, where he was employed as professor. Since 2014  he has organized a new unit Educational and Scientific Center of Railway Transport, and serves as its Acting Director. Since November 2016 he has been working at the Faculty of Transport of the Silesian University of Technology, where he is the Head of the Department of Rail Transport. He is interested in metallic and composite materials, mechanisms of degradation, and surface engineering. He has published over 80 research articles and prepared 100 expertise and R&D works for industry.

 

Mirosław Kwiatkowski

Dr. hab. eng. Mirosław Kwiatkowski in 2004 obtained Ph.D. degree at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków (Poland), and in 2018 D.Sc. degree at the Wrocław University of Technology (Poland). His published work includes more than 45 papers in reputable international journals and 80 conference proceedings. He is the editor in chief of The International Journal of system Modeling and Simulation (United Arab Emirates), an associate editor of Micro & Nano Letters Journal (United Kingdom) and a member of the editorial board of internationals journals as well as a member of the organizing committees conferences in Europe, Asia and USA and a regular reviewer in a reputable scientific journals

Gagik Shmavonyan

Gagik Shmavonyan is Professor at National Polytechnic University of Armenia, International Expert in Nanotechnology and Chief Scientific Coordinator of Educational program at LarrainVial Investment and Advisory Company, Santiago de Chile, Chile and President of NanoHiTech Association. He got his PhD in Physics in 1996 and D.Sc in Engineering in 2009 at the same University. He did postdoc at National Taiwan University, Taiwan (2001-2002). He was a Visiting Professor at the University of Hull, UK (2000, 2003), Polytechnic of Milan, Italy (2004-2005), University of Bremen, Germany (2002, 2006), Free University Berlin, Germany (2011), Trinity College Dublin, Ireland (2012), University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain (2013-2014), Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, National Center for Scientific Research "Demokritos", Athens, Greece (2017), University of Cergy-Pontoise, France (2016-2017) and University of Tubingen, Tubingen, Germany (2019). Professor Shmavonyan has taught in three universities within three countries: UK, France and Armenia. He has authored/co-authored more than 50 refereed papers, 120 Conference papers, 20 patents, 3 books, 1 problem book, 1 Monograph and a chapter in 3-volume textbook “Optical Nanospectroscopy” for European students. His two papers are cited in Graphene Science Handbook: Applications and Industriahzation, Editors: M Aliofkhazraei, N. Ali, T.I. Milne, C.S. Ozkan, S. Mitura, J.L. Gervasoni, CRC Press, Taylor & Francis Group, 2016. He is involved in coordination and advisory of different national and International R&D projects financed by NATO, UN Industrial Development Organization, Philip Morris International, Armenian and Belarusian Science Committees, Heritage Science Foundation (Paris, France), Cariplo Foundation (Italy), Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (Trieste, Italy), etc. He is an International Expert in different Scientific Committees (European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) Association (Brussels), i2mfund (USA), Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation, State Committee of Science of Armenia), Editorial board member of International Journals, Organizing Committee member and Session Chair of International Conferences. His most significant reasearch awards are: Cleantech Oscar Award at UNIDO Cleantech Open Global Ideas Competition 2015 (San Francisco, USA), National Winner (2015) and Runner-up (2014) of CleanTech Armenia Competition; ARPA Institute Invention Competition Awards (2013 and 2014, Los Angeles, USA). He is member of Management Committees of European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) Projects: CA15107 Multi-Functional Nano-Carbon Composite Materials Network (2018-2020), MP1302 “NanoSpectroscopy” (2015-2017) and MP0901 "Designing Novel Materials for Nanodevices - from Theory to Practice" (2011-2014), Athens Institute for Education and Research (Greece), International Association of Advanced Materials (Sweden) and St. Petersburg Scientific and Educational Society (Russia). His current research interests are 2D atomic materials, their hybrid structures and devices and flexible 2D electronics.

 

 

Hassan Al Nageim

Professor Hassan Al Nageim is a Professor of Structural Engineering. He received his BSc degree in Civil Engineering from University of Baghdad in 1976, then his MSc in 1983 from University College Cardiff, UK and PhD in 1989 from Civil and Structural Engineering Department at Heriot-Watt University, UK. 1977-1979, he has established the new Technology Department at Hilla Technical Institutions, Iraq, and worked as a Head of Department. 1980-1982 Completed his MSc degree and from 1983 -1985, he worked as a consultant engineer at the Kuwait National Petroleum Company representing the British Inspection X-Ray company. 1985- 1989, he worked as a PhD student on a Heriot Watt University Scholarship and developed new Triaxial Testing equipment’s capable of testing pavement engineering materials at high temperatures. The project was sponsored by Shell Bitumen Company in the UK. 1989-1998, he worked as a Senior Lecturer at Liverpool John Moores University, UK. With a main role of lecturing Advanced Structural Design including steel structures, bridges, concrete structures and pavement engineering. 1998 – 2003, he has been promoted to become a senor University Staff working as a Reader (Associate Professor in Structural Engineering). 2003 –date, he has been promoted again to the position of full Professor of Structural Engineering. Professor Al Nageim is a regular speaker and keynote speakers at different national and international conferences and consultant to many companies worldwide in the field of structural design and materials developments including Tarmac ltd, Unted utility, YK, Colas ltd. He presented papers in numerous UK and international conferences, has more than 140 scientific conference and journal publications and two books entitled: Structural Mechanics published by Pearson Education; Steel Structures: practical studies published by Taylor and Francis.

Professor Hassan main research interests are in structural design and evaluations and materials technology innovations for new applications. Professor Al Nageim is also: A Chartered Engineer and a member of the British Engineering Council, the Founder and Chief Editor of the International Journal of Pavement Engineering & Asphalt Technology, established in 2001, ISSN 1464-8164, the Founder and Chairman of the international annual conference on Sustainable Materials, Pavement Engineering and Asphalt Technology, A Fellow of the British Institution of Non- Destructive Testing and a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation UK., he is holder of major successful industrial research projects funded by national and international industrial sectors, including UK and Qatar governments with a total funding of more than 3.2 millions. He is also the inventor of three new technologies and a holder of three New Patented Technologies.

Professor Al Nageim also supervised over 16  successful UK PhD students as a director of studies and external examiners for more than 25 successful UK PhD students from the University of: Salford, Portsmouth, Liverpool, Coventry, Nottingham  and Ulster in the UK and  Anna University. Professor Al Nageim has also extensive experience in managing and development of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in; engineering, building maintenance management and building surveying at Liverpool John Moores University, UK.  Professors Al Nageim also playing a major roles as a member of the strategic planning and  educational committees for the UK Chartered British Institute of Non- Destructive Testing and the UK Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportations.

 

 

 

Magdalena Plebanski

PhD (Immunology), MBA (Business), DPS (Psychology), BScHon (Biomedicine). NHMRC Senior Research Fellow. Director of the Biomedical and Health Innovation Enabling Capability Platform (BHI-ECP) at RMIT University, one of the largest Universities in Australia, as well as Head of the Translational Immunology and Nanotechnology Laboratory at School of Health and Biomedical Sciences at RMIT. Interdisciplinary research leader in nanotechnology for biomedical innovation, leveraging exciting cross-disciplinary collaborations with engineers and clinicians to develop new approaches to promote human health.   Primary interest is to develop practical immune therapies and vaccines against complex diseases, specifically cancer, malaria and asthma, pioneering the use of synthetic size-defined non-inflammatory nanoparticles. >175 peer-reviewed publications plus multiple published book chapter and abstracts, including field changing findings on vaccines, and on immune evasion mechanisms used by parasites and cancer cells including top world-class journals, Science, Nature, Nature Biotechnology, Immunity, Nature Medicine, Plos Pathogens, PNAS, Nature Communications and Lancet, to name a few.   Currently studying immunity in multiple human trials: of vaccines in the elderly or to validate new diagnostics, prognostics and treatments for ovarian cancer, together with Charitable Organizations, Universities, Hospitals and large Pharma.   Over 50 patents in over 10 patent families. Successfully progressed findings into human trials or commercialization in diverse roles as inventor, CSO, CEO and Director in biotechnology companies nationally and internationally. Current interests further involve big data analysis for the optimised application of vaccines and chemotherapy (personalized medicine or precision medicine) to vulnerable populations such as the elderly, as well as to patients with cancer, as well as the promotion of holistic, integrated, compassionate approaches to human health.
